Meet our Associate Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - Bianca Tonantzin Zamora (She/Her)

Bianca Tonantzin Zamora

“In alignment with our vision statement, belonging is so critical to the success and thriving of staff. It takes a collective effort to dismantle inequitable power structures, and nurture environments where all staff are capable of showing up as their authentic selves and are provided the support to thrive in their roles. It is imperative as we acknowledge the strengths of H&S professionals, that we also understand the ways that systems of oppression shape the personal and professional realities of staff and managers. Experiences of microaggressions, racism, and other forms of oppression have been shown to negatively impact the physiological and psychological well-being of members in higher education. Therefore, we all have the responsibility to take actionable steps that address oppressive acts, structures, and processes. Through empathy, critical reflection, and advocacy, we can collectively carve pathways that uplift the success and thriving of all members. I am hopeful that our collective efforts will strengthen our capacities for equitable and inclusive practices at Stanford and beyond.”
